janemunro 175Jane Munro commenced her term of office as our National International Secretary on 1st January 2012.

Jane is married to Ron and they have seven children: Nicola (a zoologist and environmental scientist), Benjamin (a forester who teaches geography in the USA), Monica (a graphic artist at Skye Television in the UK), Rebecca (a teacher who is currently volunteering in Ethiopia), Alexander (a mechanical engineer), Katherine (a nurse working and studying in ICU) and Rachael (who is studying for her honours degree in music).

Jane is involved as a Senior Teacher with Billings LIFE; as a telephone counsellor with Pregnancy Counselling Australia, a crisis-pregnancy help line, as well as a trainer of new volunteers; and as the Secretary, Pregnancy Support Group, Albury Wodonga Inc, which provides practical help and face-to-face counselling for new mothers.

Jane has taught Christian Religious Education, to upper Primary grades (5/6), at the local State School and was the Area Co-ordinator. She prays regularly outside an abortion clinic in the nearby city of Albury. Jane and her husband, Ron, started the local Helpers of God’s Precious Infants group 14 years ago. Last year, a group of young mothers joined the Helpers enabling more hours of prayerful witness.

In addition to her extensive work in the community, Jane is also the Secretary of the Sandhurst Diocesan Committee of the Catholic Women’s League of Victoria and Wagga Wagga.  She is also the Editor of the CWL Victoria and Wagga Wagga magazine, The Horizon, which has been in continuous publication since 1916. Ten issues are published annually.

In her local Parish, Jane takes Holy Communion to the sick at her local Hospital, helps with monthly Mass held at the Hospital, is a member of the Baptism Preparation Team, is one of the co-ordinators of the Funeral Catering Group, initiated and co-ordinated a Parish Community Care Group, is the representative on Combined Churches Committee and is a member of Rosary Prayer Group.
