Catholic Women’s League Australia has recently established a small Research Centre in Hobart, Tasmania. Although this Centre marks a new development in CWLA’s history, it is built upon the many years over which the League has pursued well informed, current and high quality engagement in the social and ethical issues of the day. CWLA submissions and publications have earned a respected place in the many public and specialised hearings, inquiries and commissions at which they have been presented.
The new Research Centre has been established so that the CWLA and its members may anticipate, deepen and provide some original research, backed by sound evidence and ethical expertise, amidst the many complex and specialised issues emerging in the Australian, international and global community.
Our Research Officer, Dr Brigid McKenna MBBS MBioeth, is a medical practitioner who has completed post-graduate study in bioethics at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family. Dr Brigid McKenna has engaged in research, policy development and education in the areas of biomedical and healthcare ethics for the past seven years.
