46th National Biennial Conference: “Faithful to My Call”

Jupiters, Townsville, 2nd - 5th September 2013

This is the first time the National Conference has been held in North Queensland and we look forward to welcoming you. Townsville is the largest tropical city in Australia, and is a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Attractions include Reef HQ (the world’s largest coral reef aquarium), the Museum of Tropical Queensland and the Billabong Sanctuary. The award-winning Strand is one of the best inner city beachfronts in Australia.

The members of National Executive have chosen Jupiters which is situated on the shore of the Coral Sea, as the conference venue.

For the period 30th August to 8th September, Jupiters is offering 100 double rooms priced from $145 to $195 to conference members.

The conference will begin with the Opening Mass, in the Sacred Heart Cathedral, at 7 pm on 2nd September, 2013.

The varied program will cover topics that are spiritual, inspirational, educational and pertaining to the environment.

The Keynote Speaker will be Sister Annette Cuncliffe rsc, the President of Catholic Religious Australia Council, who will speak to our theme “Faithful to My Call”.

Sister Annette sees her role as president of CRA as one of facilitating collaboration of religious to make a difference in the Church and wider society, to bring the world closer to the way God dreams it could be—a world of peace and transparent justice. Sister Annette has the wisdom of a variety of different experiences especially in her role as co-chair of the National Standards Committee, and also has the wisdom that comes from a prayerful and pastoral life. She has held various teaching and leadership positions, and since 2008 had been congregational leader of the Sisters of Charity Australia.
